MR D.I.Y.'s Kuching Runs for Better Health

Participants at the starting line
KUCHING, SARAWAK, 19 July 2026 – Approximately 3,500 people gathered at Majlis Bandaraya Kuching Selatan (MBKS) recently for the Yayasan MR D.I.Y. Him & Her Health Run 2026, reflecting the Foundation's continued commitment to promoting healthier lifestyles and supporting communities across Malaysia.
Held from 6.00 a.m. to 12.00 p.m., the event welcomed participants ranging from one to 70 years old, bringing together families, individuals and running enthusiasts in support of healthier living and community spirit.
Following a successful first edition in Penang, the Kuching run marked the initiative’s expansion into Sarawak. Beyond encouraging physical activity, the event also helped raise awareness of cancer and congenital heart disease, as well as support for individuals and families affected by these conditions.

The event was officiated by the Mayor of Kuching South, Dato Wee Hong Seng, together with Yayasan MR D.I.Y.'s Chief Executive Officer and member of its Board of Trustees, Dr. Zaleha Mohd Mydin, and Sarawak State Health Department Deputy Director, En. Banges Munga.
Dr. Zaleha said the strong turnout demonstrated the value of making health and wellness initiatives accessible to communities throughout Malaysia.
"Building healthier communities requires more than raising awareness. It means creating accessible opportunities for people to take positive action together. The strong response in Kuching shows what can be achieved when communities, partners and volunteers unite around a shared purpose. We are grateful to everyone who helped make the event a meaningful success,” she said.
Participants received an exclusive event T-shirt, socks, race bib, finisher medal, and trolley bag. The programme also featured complimentary health screenings, refreshments and a lucky draw, while medical stations were available throughout the event to support participants' safety and well-being.
