MR.DIY Contributes RM300,000 to PPUMCare
Malaysia’s largest home improvement retailer, MR D.I.Y. Group (M) Berhad [MR.DIY], today contributed RM300,000 to PPUMCare [formerly known as PPUM Patient's Welfare Fund], in conjunction with the PPUMCare Run event that was held yesterday at UM Arena, Universiti Malaya.

The Run was organised by Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) to raise funds that will be used to cover the cost of treatment for underprivileged patients.

Announcing the contribution, MR D.I.Y. Group Head of Marketing, Alex Goh said “As Malaysia marks its 65th Merdeka, we are facing unprecedented challenges in many different areas of our daily lives.  As one of Malaysia’s largest retailers and employers, we see it as our responsibility to make a positive impact on the lives of Malaysians.

“This contribution to PPUMcare is aimed at helping to ensure Malaysians in need gain access to quality medical treatment, without worrying about the cost of treatment and medication.  We hope this contribution and this event today inspires more corporates to come forward to support the wonderful work that PPUM and PPUMcare do,” added Goh.

The PPUMCare Run 2022 yesterday raised RM 377,000 from generous contributors.  Besides MR D.I.Y. Group, other contributors included DatumCorp International Sdn. Bhd., Azlin Jamlus Architect, MED-EL Electronics Sdn. Bhd., Siemens Healthineers Malaysia and Aeon. Co (M) Bhd. The event was attended by Yang Berhormat Datuk Rosnah binti Haji Abdul Rashid Shirlin, Chairman of the PPUM Management Board, and launched by the Yang Berbahagia, Professor Dr. Nazirah binti Hasnan, PPUM Director.

MR.DIY has a long and mutually-rewarding collaboration with Universiti Malaya across several areas.  Since 2017, MR.DIY has been partnering with UMCares to organise an annual national DIY competition called ‘DIY Made Simple’ for secondary school students designed to inspire awareness of sustainable lifestyle choices.. In November 2021, the retailer contributed RM3.6 million of cash aid and free COVID-19 test kits to more than 12,000 undergraduates to help ease their return to campus post-pandemic. And also in 2021, the retailer collaborated with UMMC to build a multipurpose room called The ZONE for educational purposes, and contributed vital sign monitors and personal protective equipment to the hospital to help frontliners deal with the demands of the pandemic.
