MR.DIY Continues Safeguarding Our Frontliners Retailer Installs Protective Shields at 12 PDRM Stations in Selangor

KUALA LUMPUR, 08 January 2021 — Malaysia’s largest home improvement retailer MR D.I.Y. Group (M) Berhad kicked off 2021 by continuing its efforts to support frontline communities who are leading the charge in protecting the rakyat from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. As part of their contribution, the homegrown retailer installed 35 protective shields across 12 police stations, in an effort to ensure the protection of the Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) force, as well as the rakyat.

“We launched the “Stay Safe, Malaysia” effort in 2020 when it became obvious that the COVID- 19 pandemic would have far-reaching effects on the lives of countless Malaysians,” said MR.DIY Group Chairman Dato’ Azlam Shah Alias. “At the start, our focus was to help healthcare frontliners and affected communities. We are now extending our assistance and support to other frontliners who are also helping to keep Malaysians safe. Our “men in blue” are going above and beyond their call of duty, often coming into contact with members of the public in the course of their work. We hope these protective shields will help keep their work environment safer.”

“Our experience in 2020 has shown us that when Malaysians come together to help each other in the spirit of “Kita Jaga Kita”, much of the burden of care and responsibility can be shared. We want our frontliners, and indeed all Malaysians to know that their safety and wellbeing is our top priority,” he added.

The 12 police stations where the protective shields have been installed are in the Hulu Langat and Seri Kembangan districts in Selangor, where most sub-districts are currently red zones. These include Balai Polis Batu 18, Batu 14, Batu 9, Kajang, Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Sungai Long, Semenyih, Beranang, Bukit Serdang, Seri Kembangan, Bandar Baru Bangi, as well as Balai Polis Cawangan Trafik Kajang.

This is the fifth initiative in an on-going effort by MR.DIY Group to support Malaysia’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. To date, the retailer has contributed protective gear to more than 66 hospitals throughout the nation. In 2020 alone, the Group donated over 11,835 units of PPE suits, 1.1 million pieces of 3-ply face masks, 21,900 hand sanitisers, and 29,400 face shields to frontliners and communities in Malaysia, further demonstrating its commitment to serve the rakyat better.
