MR.DIY Sends Much-Needed PPEs and Masks to Four Districts in Sabah

KUALA LUMPUR, 22 OCTOBER 2020 — Home improvement retailer MR D.I.Y. Group (M) Berhad (MR.DIY) has stepped up its humanitarian aid to frontliners, first responders and vulnerable groups in Sabah as the state’s COVID-19 situation continues to worsen.

Today, the retailer has shipped to Sabah, 9,000 sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) and 20,000 pcs of face masks, worth a total of RM480,000. MR.DIY plans to distribute the equipment to affected areas across the state, including four key COVID-19 hospitals, six government clinics and other government facilities, in the districts of Semporna, Lahad Datu, Tawau, and Kunak.

This COVID-19 relief measure by MR.DIY comes on the back of Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham’s announcement that the pandemic situation in Sabah was at a “crisis” level, due to the exponential daily increase of cases.

MR D.I.Y. Group (M) Berhad’s Chief Executive Officer, Adrian Ong, said: “This third wave of COVID-19 has hit Sabah especially hard, and we are concerned that frontliners as well as the people of Sabah may not have immediate access to the supplies they need. Our direct relationships with manufacturers and our nationwide logistics network make it possible for us to mobilise these supplies quickly to get them to those who need it most. As a homegrown retailer, we are committed to serving Malaysians in meaningful ways, and this is a much- needed service at this time.”

MR.DIY has been helping communities all over the country through the current pandemic. To date, the company has distributed over 2,000 PPEs, 300,000 pcs of face masks, 10,000 face shields as well as materials to make face shields amounting to over RM3.8 million since the pandemic broke out earlier this year.
