Yayasan MR D.I.Y. recognised as Foundation of the Year in Sustainability & CSR Awards Malaysia 2024
KUALA LUMPUR, 29 July 2024 - The philanthropic arm of Malaysia’s largest home improvement retailer, MR D.I.Y. Group [M] Berhad [MR D.I.Y.], Yayasan MR D.I.Y., has been announced as Foundation of the Year [Home Improvement Retailer] Outstanding Community Spirit Award in the Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards 2024.
The award organised by ‘CSR Malaysia’ an initiative of Pertubuhan Amal Tanggungjawab Kemapanan Dan Korporat Malaysia (a national body for Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility) aims to celebrate outstanding Malaysian corporations that have excelled as trailblazers in the socio-economic and environmental transformation of Malaysia. Deputy Women, Family, and Community Development Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad, presented the awards in recognition of their hard work and accomplishments.
A panel of esteemed judges from corporate and social organizations selected 60 award recipients based on criteria such as the clarity of CSR goals, impact, event frequency, total contributions, transparency, creativity, team strength, and the sincerity and effectiveness of each initiative.
Commenting on the recognition, Yayasan MR D.I.Y. Chief Executive Officer [CEO], Zaleha Mohd Mydin, said "Being recognised with our first-ever CSR Award just one year since our inception is indeed very special. This significant acknowledgment affirms that Yayasan MR D.I.Y.’s efforts to make a positive impact on the lives of Malaysians are truly making a difference. Our team is grateful for this recognition and inspired to do even more in the coming years, and hope programmes like this will inspire other companies to follow suit, paving the way for a better Malaysia. The Sustainability and CSR Award event, held at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, on 18 July 2024, honoured 60 Malaysian listed and private companies together with GLCs. Yayasan MR D.I.Y. is the sole winner of the Foundation of the Year [Home Improvement Retailer] Outstanding Community Spirit Award category.
Yayasan MR D.I.Y. was established in June 2023 to manage the MR D.I.Y Group’s community impact activities. In 2023, Yayasan MR D.I.Y. carried out 190 programmes, positively impacting over 59,000 individuals. It plans to continue to build on this strong foundation, reaching more and more individuals and communities, and in turn contributing to the sustainable development and progress of the nation as a whole.
