Returns and Exchange Policy
MR. D.I.Y (South Africa) Pty Ltd

We want you to be happy with your purchase. If you are not completely satisfied, you can return the products to us and we will either repair / replace it or refund you, subject to the terms below. This policy applies to the products bought from MR. D.I.Y.. 

This policy forms part of the MR. D.I.Y. Terms and Conditions and words defined in the Terms and Conditions have the same meaning in this policy unless the context indicates otherwise. Nothing in this policy is intended to limit your statutory rights in any way.

Unwanted Products

You can return unwanted products to us, provided that: 

it is undamaged and unused, with the original labels and stickers still attached;
it is in the original packaging, which must be undamaged and in its original condition with all seals still intact (if applicable);
it is not missing any accessories or parts;
you present a valid proof of purchase (receipt or till slip);
it is not listed in products not eligible for return (below); and
you  return the products within 30 days of purchase of the unwanted products. After 30 days, you can only return products if it is defective within 6 months from the date of purchase, subject to the terms below.

You can return or exchange eligible items to any of our stores nationwide. Simply bring the products you wish to return/exchange, your proof of purchase (receipt) and any original packaging or accessories that came with the item. 

Our staff will inspect the products and process your return or exchange in accordance with this policy.

Once the return is approved, you will have the option to receive a full refund in the original form of payment (e.g., cash, card) or exchange the item for another item of equal or higher value (you will be required to pay the difference).Refunds for card payments may take up to 5 business days to reflect, depending on your bank. The other option would be to receive a store credit, which can be used at any of our store locations. 

Products not eligible for returns

The following products are not eligible for a refund, exchange or credit:

electronic vouchers;
books;
intimates, lingerie, swimwear, bodysuits or underwear;
jewellery for piercings;
a beauty product or fragrance which has been used;
foodstuff, beverages or other products intended for everyday consumption; or
products which have been personalised for you or made to your specifications, unless defective.

Defective Products

We do our best to ensure that the products we deliver to you are of a high quality and without defects. 

What is a defect? A defect is a material imperfection in the manufacture of a products or any characteristic of a products, which makes the products less acceptable than one would reasonably be entitled to expect in the circumstances. 

The following will NOT be regarded as defects and will not entitle you to a return under this section 4: 

faults resulting from normal wear and tear;
damage arising from negligence, user abuse or incorrect usage of the products;
damage arising from electrical surges or sea air corrosion;
damage arising from a failure to adequately care for the products;
damage arising from unauthorised alterations to the products; and
where the specifications of a products, although accurately described on the Website or in store and generally fit for its intended purpose, do not suit you.

Standard Warranty

If you have received products which turns out to be defective, we are happy to assist you in line with your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 (“CPA”), but in any event within 6 months after purchase of the products (except in the case of an extended supplier warranty, which is set out below). 

You can return eligible items to any of our stores nationwide. Simply bring the defective products together with the proof of purchase (receipt) and any original packaging or accessories that came with the item. 

Our staff will inspect the products and process your rights in terms of the CPA should a defect be present. In terms of the CPA, you may choose one of the following:

repair of the item at no cost;
replacement of the item with a new one (subject to availability); or
full refund of the purchase price paid.

Please note: We reserve the right to first inspect and verify the defect before processing a return, repair, replacement, or refund.

Please note: Once you have chosen one of the above options, the CPA does not require the store to offer an alternative remedy. If you opt for a repair and the repair is unsuccessful, or the defect recurs, you may then choose either a replacement or refund.


Extended Supplier Warranty (to the extent applicable)

Products may have a supplier warranty that extends beyond the 6 months. 

Please note that any extended supplier warranty is subject to whatever terms and conditions the supplier or manufacturer may impose. These are usually stated in a brochure or leaflet inside or on the products packaging. It is your responsibility to make yourself aware of any such terms and conditions. 

Please provide suitable packaging for returning the products, as well as all accessories that were sold with the defective item when you return it to us – regardless of whether you request a repair / replacement or a refund. 

It is also important to note that it will be in the supplier or manufacturer’s discretion to repair or replace the item, or to refund you. MR. D.I.Y. is under no obligation to provide you with a credit, repair / replacement for any return logged after 6 months, as your remedy lies with the supplier or manufacturer. 

Vouchers 

Wherever you have used a MR. D.I.Y. voucher to purchase a products that you later return for a refund in accordance with this Policy, we cannot refund you in cash for that portion of the purchase price which you paid using the voucher, but we will credit your account.

Charges

If you return a defective product to us, but you fail to return all of the accessories that were sold with those products, we are entitled (subject to applicable law) to refuse the return, only to replace the item that you did return, or to estimate the value of the missing accessories and only to credit or refund you in respect of the returned item.

If you return items to us by mistake and you want these returned to you, you may be liable to reimburse MR. D.I.Y. for the cost of having the products returned to you.

If you return a products that do not comply with this policy, you may be liable to reimburse MR. D.I.Y. for the cost of collecting the products from you and the cost of having the products returned to you.
