MR.DIY CSR: Walk With Style @ Persatuan DAYBREAK, Ipoh
On 20th February 2023, MR.DIY Cares continued its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by organizing its third series for the year 2023 of “Upcycle: Walk with Style” initiatives at Persatuan DAYBREAK, Ipoh, a place to empower and provide skills training for persons with disabilities. The event saw the participation of 15 volunteers, including MR.DIY and Persatuan DAYBREAK trainers.
The highlight of the event was the upcycling of over 40 pairs of unused white school shoes into colourful designs by the 40 Persatuan DAYBREAK disabled trainees. The day was filled with a cheerful vibe, glee, and excitement seen radiating on each of the trainees’ and trainers’ faces. This initiative not only benefits the environment but also empowers disabled trainees with new skills and experiences, especially in discovering their own creativity.
The trainers at Persatuan DAYBREAK expressed their gratitude towards MR.DIY for supporting the disabled community through this upcycle program. They also shared that it was their first time being involved with this kind of activity, and they look forward to having more programmes like this in the future with MR.DIY as the disabled community could continuously be a part of the ongoing efforts to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility.
